Planning a 7-Day Trip to Georgia?
Planning a 7-day trip to Georgia? This detailed Georgia itinerary will help you explore the best of Tbilisi, Kazbegi, and Mtskheta while discovering local tips, hidden gems, authentic Georgian food, and practical transport advice from a local travel expert. Whether you are visiting Georgia for the mountains, culture, wine, or hospitality, this guide will help you experience the country beyond the typical tourist route.
Day 1: Arriving in Tbilisi & Getting to the City Center
Welcome to Georgia! Your journey begins the moment you land at Tbilisi International Airport.
How to Get From Tbilisi Airport to the City Center
Once you exit the arrivals terminal, you will immediately notice many taxi drivers waiting outside. My honest advice? Always agree on the price before getting into the car, or even better, download ride-hailing apps like Bolt or Yandex to avoid tourist prices.
If you are traveling on a budget, there is also an excellent public transport option.
Bus No. 337 stops directly outside the airport and goes straight into the city center. The ticket costs only 1 GEL, and you can pay using any Visa or Mastercard. If you do not have a contactless card, there is a ticket machine near the bus stop where you can purchase a transport card.

Day 2: Exploring Old Tbilisi on Foot

Today is all about discovering the magical atmosphere of Old Tbilisi.
Honestly, if you enjoy walking, you probably will not need any transportation today. I highly recommend staying somewhere in the city center because most attractions are within walking distance.
Visiting Sameba Cathedral

Start your morning at Sameba Cathedral, officially known as the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi. It is the largest cathedral in Georgia and one of the most important religious sites in the country.
Metechi Church & Rike Park

From Sameba, walk toward Metechi Church and continue down to Rike Park, one of the most modern and relaxing areas in central Tbilisi.
The Bridge of Peace & Cable Car Ride
Cross the famous glass Bridge of Peace and take the cable car up to the iconic Mother of Georgia statue (Kartlis Deda).
The cable car costs 2.50 GEL one way, and transport cards can be purchased directly at the station.
Narikala Fortress vs Botanical Garden
Once you reach the top, you have two wonderful options.
You can either walk through the ancient Narikala Fortress while enjoying panoramic views over Tbilisi, or head into the peaceful Tbilisi Botanical Garden filled with waterfalls, greenery, and beautiful walking paths.
Juma Mosque & Leghvtakhevi Waterfall
As you continue walking downhill, you will arrive at the beautiful Juma Mosque area. Nearby, you will discover Leghvtakhevi Canyon and its famous waterfall hidden right in the middle of the city.
This area is one of my personal favorite places in Tbilisi.
Sulfur Baths & Meidan Bazaar
No visit to Tbilisi is complete without seeing the iconic sulfur bath district with its recognizable brick domes.
Just nearby, head underground into Meidan Bazaar, a hidden shopping spot filled with Georgian souvenirs, handmade crafts, local sweets, and wine.
Shardeni Street & Gabriadze Theater
Continue through lively Shardeni Street before arriving at Ioane Shavteli Street, one of the most charming streets in Old Tbilisi.
Here you will find:
- cozy cafés
- local paintings
- artistic corners
- beautiful old architecture
At the end of the street, visit:
- Anchiskhati Basilica
- Gabriadze Marionette Theater
- the famous leaning clock tower
Some tourists even call it one of the smallest and cutest clocks in the world.
